This is a song that I have been working on for quite a while. It touches on a subject I haven't really talked about in my music before.

Lyrics:
Keep in mind that what’s on the outside
is just a defense mechanism to hide
the baggage inside,
how he damaged my pride

But real men don’t cry,
haven’t you ever wondered
why we went to the water slides
every summer

He told her that he’d like to see me grow
so year after year we’d always make a point to go
At first she told me, but to no one’s surprise he didn’t show
after that she never mentioned it, I didn’t know.

I remember a few years after that
I tried to connect through an internet chat
it was a brand new platform and I learned it for him
I waited there four hours and he never logged in

And now it stings to think back on
my recollections of a father that was always gone
a stuffed animal collection doesn’t right that wrong
he never wrote me one letter, why’d I write him a song?

I guess I needed to say some things
sometimes the only way to move past your pain is to sing
so I’m singing
But he’d better not think that our relationship's not dead
cause of one dedication

I don’t even really know what he looks like
I saw one photo five years ago and it’s all
I can judge by, I don’t have his eyes
But in high school he tried, he dialed my number.
He made that choice, it wasn’t some blunder.

Though lower and horse he sounded just like me
I’ve always hated my voice, it figures that’s the thing
he’d bestow to me, now practically
every sound I make makes me doubt my singing
That’s why I always mumble and I’m never screaming

He kept it up for a few months
once in a while he would call me and when I picked up
I’d ask him what he’d been doing, why he’d packed it up
He never had the guts to tell me it was all for the drugs
but it was

It’s fucked up to think back on
my recollections of a father that was always gone
a stuffed animal collection doesn’t right that wrong
he never wrote me one letter, why’d I write him a song?

I guess I needed to say some things
sometimes the only way to move past your pain is to sing
so I’m singing
But he’d better not think that our relationships not dead
cause of one dedication

Gabrielle gave feedback to Xack Fischer for “One Dedication”:
This song is really good- probably because it's a very real and sad subject. Creative lyrics, too. If you perform live, I think this one would sound good.

Funny track, Xack. Kind of sad too at the same time. Always good to hear your voice, man...
