Little warning: this song is one big political rant! Increasingly, we the people, feel that we have very little control over how our leaders run our countries. Always saying one thing and doing another. The advent of multi-media communications has filled the world with disinformation and propaganda. Now every political broadcast can be edited and we can perpetuate personalities that are fictional illusion.
However, the information age has also opened the eyes of the public to these problems and we are now better equipped than ever to make a stand and take back control of our countries from corporations and puppet politicians.
We are the people and we're taking back the power!

Lyrics:
We are the people and we're taking back the power
Not gonna wait another day, another hour
We are the people and we're taking back the power
Not gonna wait another day

Who's gonna plug it when the rains fall down?
Smashed TV reflects my frown
Tornado spin in a distant land
Media mule kicks up the blinding sand
On the hour, try to make you cower
Shiver all day from the cold media shower
Hand-picked emotion tailored to control
Open your eyes before they crush your soul

Who's against the wall when it all falls down?
Take your pick from the puppet pawn clowns
Who's that standing on the podium block?
Not my leader, not my rock
Rat-a-tat-tat on the flap of the fat cat
Hurl out the throne where the crook king once sat
We are the people and we're standing strong
To pull the plug on a government gone wrong

We are the people and we're taking back the power
Not gonna wait another day, another hour
Fooled for many a year, but now our vision is clear
Not gonna tolerate a country run on fear

We're gonna make it on our own
Now that your cover is blown
Well our emotions you don't own
Seeds of change have now been sown
No we ain't gonna comply
When every word is a lie
You ain't our leader, ain't our king
Let me hear the people sing
We're gonna make it on our own
We're gonna make it on our own

The sincere front man, with the ideal plan
Shatter his illusion, he's a hollow man
They're all the same, well trained in the art
Of spinning a yarn to pull on your heart
To assert in concert the holiest of desire
Adds passionate fuel to the campaign fire
But election promises are never fulfilled
Six months down the line, people still getting killed

You should know by now, that no one wins a war
But investors make a fortune, that's for sure
Always an agenda, behind the closed door
If the price is right, they'll go beyond the law
Now the country’s in debt to the banksters
The corporations, the respectable gangsters
No profit in peace, so nephew fights niece
A cycle of suffering, but we can make it cease

Expose the truth with the words of this song
The resistance is growing its millions strong
Throw out the leaders that don't belong
Take back the power and right the wrong
The powers that be making deals with the devil
Two-faced preachers never keep us on the level
We've cleared the air, now the writings on the wall
Crooked leaders can't brainwash us all

We are the people and we're taking back the power
Not gonna wait another day another hour
We are the people and we're taking back the power
Not gonna wait another day another hour
We are the people and we're taking back the power
Not gonna wait another day another hour
We are the people and we're taking back the power
Not gonna wait another day

We're gonna make it on our own
Now that your cover is blown
Well our emotions you don't own
Seeds of change have now been sown
No we ain't gonna comply
When every word is a lie
You ain't our leader, ain't our king
Let me hear the people sing
We're gonna make it on our own
We're gonna make it on our own

We're gonna make it on our own
Now that your cover is blown
We're gonna make it on our own
The seeds of change have now been sown

Very good production ... interesting rhythmic vocals ... nice style changes ... reminds me of Michael Franti and Spearhead for the genre and political rant. ... https://youtu.be/RIOrGu6Ub4U?list=PLJ7QPuvv91JtDMNYCh5nZtqHdwfoMof7Y

I think I missed this tune. Different sound for you. has a sort of a 'tears for fears' quality to it.

I like the contrast between the chorus and verse, but not the transitions -- too choppy. Especially the first one. -Shoham

i like your guys orientation and messages. this song is great. thank for staying true.

good swing.
i would like to hear some of those harmonies during the rant for word power emphasis. constant rhythmic changes keep it interesting. good job. i think some kind of horn based harmonies would balance out that orchestral sound with the strings.

Good suggestions, there are a lotta of words, I agree some harmonies would help emphasise and break up the rant a little. Glad you like the message, there was a lot of rage and anger about the current political climate thrown into this song.
But there were also some very groovy basslines thrown in to keep things interesting!! Thanks for listening : )
