Another slice for the musical pie that is our debut album 'Decoding the Illusion' : D
Can be taken literally (who doesn't like a good train ride : P) or on a deeper level it's an inspriation to travel, explore and above all never ever give up chasing the dreams that make you feel alive.
Hope you enjoy : D

Lyrics:
I've been down that road before
Now I'm left, wanting something more

I dream each night of somewhere new
To feast my eyes on a different view
To run my train clear off the rails
A change of pace to heal my ails
No satisfaction in this home town
All these roads that I've walked down
Leave behind, all I’ve known
For a chance to live, a chance to grow

I've been down that road before
Now I'm left, wanting something more

Far from home, I have fled
A new night’s sky, shining overhead
Every night in a different bed
Home is where I lay my head
I wake each day, somewhere new
Pack my bag, put on my shoes
Can't stay long just passing through
Always searching for something new

Hear a whisper in the air
Let your wings carry you there
Follow your heart to the end of the earth
Searching for your life’s true worth
Catch the wind and start to sway
Let it take you far away
We're not coming back
‘Til we find our way

These longest days are yours and mine
So ride the train to the end of the line
Climb aboard and forget the blues
All you need are your two shoes
Pass the point of no return
Bright our flames will always burn
Set a course for clearer skies
And see the world through wider eyes

Ride the train
Ride the train to the end of the line
Ride the train
Never know, oh never know what you might find

Sever your ties and feel alive
Let it go, let it go
No need to hold your life so tight
Days are short got to live them right
Here's your ticket, we can afford
To cut the cord and climb aboard
Pulling away from the station

We can ride ‘til the break of dawn
To unknown horizons we are drawn
Learn all we can from the people we find
Leaving our patterns far behind
A change of scene, a new frontier
Stare into the lake, the mind is clear
In the depths, we'll find the truth
That we've been chasing all our youth

I've been down that road before
Now I'm left, wanting something more

Escape the tempest of modern life
Leave behind your trouble and strife
Surrender to nature’s attraction
Searching for true satisfaction
Feel more alive than ever before
The freedom lets the spirit soar
This world
Was made for you and me

These longest days are yours and mine
So ride the train to the end of the line
Climb aboard and forget the blues
All you need are those two shoes
Pass the point of no return
Bright our flames will always burn
Set a course for clearer skies
To see the world through wider eyes

Ride the train
Ride the train to the end of the line
Ride the train
Never know, oh never know what you might find

A better recording may help, but the vocals in this track are killing me. Also, the drums are a bit annoying. It needs some work.

Thanks for your honesty, I agree snare drum came out a bit harsh on this recording, needs some EQ or just less volume. What specifically don't you like about the vocals? The lyrics, the performance or the voice? Any suggestions will help me improve in the future : )

More the voice than the lyrics. I enjoy the lyrics, they have good imagery and flow. However, the voice itself is harsh and flat. Needs more warmth is what I'd say. Like I said, this may all be solved by a better recording!

Cool, that helps. I agree, probably too much compression on the vocal, isn't doing it any favours in terms of warmth. Thanks for the feedback.

Daryl C. Hill gave feedback to Pattern Break for “Ride the Train”:
Sam,

I still can't get the song to play. I wish that I could.

I did read through the lyrics and am very impressed. A story, they have to tell.

Is this an expression of your life's path? Really, i know that it is without asking.

"Life is good in that way. It makes us want to fly away. Life is good in that way, it makes us want to home, we stay."

My player is going to get checked out so that I can hear the music.

Hi Daryl,
That's right, an expression of life's path, about getting bored in the same place, not just geographically, but mentally, moving on from a relationship or a job when it no longer satisfies you.
Your words summed it up well.
Not sure what is wrong with the player, it works on my computer. My music is also online here: www.patternbreak.bandcamp.com - Ride the Train is track 6 there, maybe it will work there instead.

Sam,
I will give the link a try. Say, how do you go about purchasing something? Is it done through the site or is it on an individual artist's account?? Maybe it is because I haven't purchased it? Can some one (Sam) please educate me?

Hey Daryl, this site is all free, you shouldn't need to purchase it to listen to it. To buy something you can click on the buy link underneath the piece of work and then pay for it using Paypal. My album is for sale at the link www.patternbreak.bandcamp.com for £5.99 which works out about $9.60 if you'd like to purchase it : D
