Gremlin  ✎ Edit

Location: Carl Sagan's Cosmos ✎ Edit
About me:
✎ Edit Kirk Gremlin: all vocals, instruments, and production.

Influences: Low, Ryan Adams, Neil Young, Gram Parsons, Westerberg, Tortoise, Jobim, Charles Mingus, Harry Nilsson, Jackson Browne, Velvets, hip hop, lots of metal from Cinderella to Pantera, and pretty much any electronic and alt-country I can find.
I know a lot of those don't come through really, but they give me ideas, and inspire me to pick up the guitar or sit behind a keyboard.

I appreciate you stopping by for a listen. Hope the day (or night) finds you well, wherever you are.

All tracks are available for free. I will upload some more demos in the future. : )

This one is oddly downbeat for a Sho-tune. Reminds me of your by the numbers tune from 5-ish years ago

There are no heroes here, and "all of the walls between us all are gonna wear us down"

Potential mashup? Methinks yes

It's based mainly on jury duty & this painting: https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Card_Players#/media/File%3ALes_Joueurs_de_cartes%2C_par_Paul_Cézanne.jpg

The explanation of this painting that I got was that it's man in the modern world, taking a chance (they said that cards in classical paintings mean that) but there's no food which typically would be on the table to represent god and Jesus.) but we play the old game, except this time it's hopeless. Cezanne says "this is the modern world, good luck!"

X the #s is in part based on the holocaust so they are similar in style.

Hmm did not realize based on holocaust. Interesting inspo source!

Jury duty is the worst, well minus the 4 hours I just spent at DMV. that was fun too.

Who will testify/test you part I really enjoyed. Some cool chords in there.

Should add lyrics for following along a little easier when you have time :)

Put your hand in boiling water,
3 days later if it heals;
Put your hand in boiling water,
3 days later if it heals
Then it means you are not guilty
In your trial of ordeals.

Come on, walk into the fire
Let the devil make his deals
Will you burn in your desire?
Will you see the seven seals?
Will it mean that you are guilty in your trial of ordeals?

Been raging on for 30,000 years
Must have cost your mother 30,000 tears...

If you see my crying daughter,
Tell her I know how she feels,
If you see my crying daughter,
Tell her I know how she feels
I was raised without a father, in a trial of ordeals

She's been saving it for 30,000 years- Buried deep beneath her 30,000 fears ...

If you see my darling child, let her know I'm coming home,
"If it takes 10,000 miles", tell her "Daddy's coming home, while we all must have our trials, no we should not stand alone!"

It's been raging on for 30,000 years,
Must have cost your mother 30,000 tears...

Who will test you, who will test you, who will testify? Tell me: who will test you, who will test you who will if not I?

If I have to go back sometime, it don't matter how I die...

Who will test you, who will test you, who will testify? Tell me: who will test you, who will test you who will if not I?

Woah, if I have to go home someday, no matter how I die.

1/4th of the tune? Epic! Ever finish this puppy?

This one is now at 80% as of the recording you heard.

You want on a (good) rampage, so for your sake, I am going to put everything on this thread:

(1) Might be something brewing... Hint, hint -- more than just a new microphone, wink, wink, nudge nudge... "Under the radar"

(2) After all is said and done, the Olympian tasks the Sisyphian trials, "Up & Down" will be what I am remembered for -- doubtless.

(3) More Easter Eggs in Paperclip song?

(4) Trial of Ordeals lyrics hopefully up sooner rather than later -- I thought I had them up, I guess not!

(5) Generally everything I have done over the last several years has been pretty much $4!+core recordings. In part because of laziness/depression about working so hard and in part because I feel like "Just get it out there, and when the time comes work on arrangements and MODEST production value"...

TL:DR Thanks and I hope we passed the audition + something awesome this way comes...

Digging the simplicity of this one... I smell an album brewing! Honestly, get a nicer mic and just drop a little acoustic record:)
