Weka  ✎ Edit

About me:
✎ Edit Weka started his musical journey at age 6, when he began piano lessons. From there it sparked a lifetime passion for music. He has been influenced by multitudes of artists over the years from many different genres, and is currently trying to create a diverse range of music in order to solidify his own unique style.

He completed his Honours degree in Music majoring in Sonic Arts (or electronic music composition) at the New Zealand School of Music at the end of 2009; he then embarked on a relatively short jaunt into the edgy world of the AV industry. This was a very enlighting time for Weka, to say the least!

In 2011, Weka aim's to have a EP completed, to further create the best parties he can with his promotional group No Ordinary Moment along with his good friend Leo (Double Helix/Mufasa) and to continue an installation project, which was started (but not completed) during his university days.

Much Aroha (Love)!

My News:

Weka gave feedback to Pattern Break for “Kaleidoscope Dreams”:
Positive, tight.

The vocal harmonies need a bit of pitch work.

I like :-)

Thanks for listening, glad you enjoyed it : )
Yeah, the whole vocal is a bit dodgy I agree, will get it right next time!

Rex Yehudi (shoham) gave feedback to Weka for “The New Funk (Draft)”:
Great syncopation! I'd probably like to hear a little more of a drop somewhere in the middle, but I love the melody and the rhythm is very tight as well.

What software are you using? I'm trying to get into writing something people can dance to, but I would like to start off on something I can afford and then possibly move onto something more pro!

Thank you. I would buy this! If you throw a PayPal on it.

Weka gave feedback to Ryan Toth for “dance ya god damned monkey”:
Nice groove. Experiment with dropping the kick out at certain points to raise the tension at the start of build ups. Sweet :-)

Ian MacPhail gave feedback to Weka for “The New Funk (Draft)”:
I think for the end some shots on the horns with muted chords on the guitars and rimshots on the snares...

Something dramatic.

I love the flute, and the recurring "scales" going down on all the instruments. The keyboard rhythms throughout the piece are really cool, and I like how you make the piece develop!

Just want to comment again after listening to it many times...

I love this. You should definitely consider making an album based around this piece.
