Nice grunge feel to this track. Do you guys have separate tracks for you instruments or is it all one mic recording? If you have separate instrument / vocal wavs I could try and clean things up and add a little polish for you.

shoham gave feedback to Karmawimps for “So Much For That. . .”:
Hey man. I heard this one the other day and wanted to wait until I got some proper headphones together before commenting, but since that could take a minute, I wanted to definitely say that I thought your syncopation and counterpoint has really matured a lot since the old Airvents days and even since the original set of posts you did with $karma. Felt like your vocals were stronger too. The one thing I definitely felt was that it could have used some more harmonies but I'll listen again before making a final judgement.

And that was me admitting to how little I know about my own craft! Haha.
I will definitely get the rest up soon. One of the other tracks I posted at the beginning of the project (Excuses). I also revisited 2:57, gave it a shake, and renamed it. It has been a productive summer.

chorus needs harmonies (except the second to last 'phone booth one' one). killer tune.

$Karma,

Well produced track, guys. I think it just needs some vocal harmonies throughout, even before the finale.

I feel like there is an important message with this song, keep pushing that and you can't go wrong!

So far I have I have been accepted to 3 schools, waiting on two more. One of the ones in question is Uc Berkeley, which is my number 1. If not there, San Jose State, which I have been accepted to already.

did you start off doing community college? yeah, yeah, everyone wants to go to Berkeley, but don't be too snobby, lol. I just checked it out and it looks like SJST has a damn good rep for engineering. -Shoham

Yep, community college. Did not want to pay enormous out of state fees.

I think it's the smart move. I taught for about ten years after college (just left recently), I think that if you want the college credits and if they are going to transfer, then Community is a lot better choice than going straight to a main campus, especially as much as costs have soared in the last 10+ years...

Like the rotary phone reference. My grandma had one!

You might be ahead of your time with this sound because it sounds like early 2000s.

$karma,

So cool to see you guys back in the Studio -- woah your musicality has taken a serious step forward in the last year or so!

And yes, I remeber the original.

1:38 harmonies' kick in was an awesome cherry on the bottom of the icecream bowl style surprise!

Thank you for being awesome

Thanks for the support! This track is basically everything I had in my head however many years ago, but just didn't have the know-how to put it all together. It has always been my favorite and always wanted to give it a proper (or at least better than what I had originally done) recording.

I wish! Roger lives in Arizona and I live in California. Plus we don't even have a real drummer. The drums in this track are very convincing drum builder in garageband. Maybe one day!

shoham gave feedback to Karmawimps for “Deep Breath”:
You guys are getting stronger, especially rhythmically. Very impressive. Also, I notice a lot of new strength in your vocals and songwriting skills, not to mention your production quality. Its like really high quality pop-punk, now!

I think that you could continue to improve how you are incorporating the vocals. It might be my headphones, but the vocals sound too soft for me...

Thank you,

Thank you for the feed back! It really means a lot. Since we don't know any drummers at the moment, we have been looking into alternatives. For this song I was able to find an artist who sells albums of drum tracks for people to use in their own music. I have also been really looking at the art of recording, trying to get the most out of my instruments with what I have access to, which isn't very much!
In regards to the softness of the vocals, you are probably correct. I'm still trying to figure out this whole mixing business!
As always, thank you for the support!

Yes. I'm still in California, and Roger is still in Arizona. By now, we have definitely gotten a better grasp on how to go about our recording and such. We have a few more songs we are working on at the moment that we are pretty excited about.

Rhythm guitar sounds very tight, fellahs. I think that the unison vocals tracks could be a bit tighter, though.

I like the pace of this cover!

Karma(wimps) (pronounced just as karmawimps) started out as a little joke roger and I had. Radwimps (taken from the phrase "superlative cowards"), a japanese rock band, is one of our all time favorite bands. We were karma, but started calling ourselves karmawimps as a goofy little tribute, and it just kinda stuck. As we used it more and more, it developed its own meaning. To us, or at least me, it runs along the lines of being afraid of your every action. Being afraid of the consequences that might come. You start doing good actions to shield yourself, rather than doing good for the sake of doing good. However, this all may just be ramblings of a sleep deprived college student!

The other Memmott, Andrew the bassist, is still in high school. I'm the big Memmott! And I'm not sure why we do it with parentheses, to be honest. Your suggestion is noted. We've already gone back and forth a few times haha
