Thick as Thieves (Old - Please check out the final track on my profile)

Genres: Hard Rock, Rock, New Wave

I came up with the basic chorus for this song in the morning, but didn't really find the meaning of the words until after I'd gotten home from work. At first, it was about narcissism. Then, I realized what it was actually about, and the rest came together.

Lyrics:
I'm
Oh so shy
You won't find me, but
For
Me you'll die
Yes, you will, and well

I'll
Burn for you
If you ask me, but
You
Can't let go
I won't let you

I am the one
Who makes you fear
Just open your pockets
And pay with your tears

Who needs the birds?
To hell with the bees
Blood and oil
Thick as thieves

I
Help you grow
Feed your cities, and
You
Trust me so
With your babies, oh

For
You I'll fight
If you let me
I
Am your right
Come and get me

I am the one
Who makes you fear
Just open your pockets
And pay with your tears

Who needs the birds?
To hell with the bees
Blood and oil
Thick as thieves

I am the hand
That built all you see
Shattered by
Artillery

You push and you pull
But all around me
Are broken dreams
And apathy

Digging this. :)

I like the contrast between verse and chorus- both instrumentally and vocally. I'm not sure if you've changed the mix since Shoham's comments below but I like the effect/style of the vocals during the verse.

The chorus is hard-hitting.. the way the vocals and guitar groove.. and I like it, but I think I may actually like the style of the verses a little more. :)

Nice piano/string break around 2:15.

Great tune mate.

What's your guitar setup for this?

It's a good driving beat! Harmonies sound good as well, and the effects on the vocals are cool, but I think that the lead vocal could be a little bit stronger-- another take and or remixing them could add a lot I think.

I'm listening on a laptop, so that's probably one factor too.

Ian Marquis  Thank you! Which vocals do you think need more work: verse or chorus?  (May 25, 2011, 10:09 EDT)

WalaWalaWala  You're welcome. The parts in the verses where there isn't any harmonies are at times a little shaky. -Shoham  (May 25, 2011, 11:00 EDT)

Ian Marquis  Ah, gotcha. I can tighten that up a bit. Do you like the chorus vocals?  (May 25, 2011, 11:00 EDT)
