Enjoy a nice draft of a new tune :)
Cover art by Raphael, 16th Century Italy.

Lyrics:
Madame Syracuse I've always had a Muse distant and resistant to my spell (Wala la ooh Wala la)
Lady, I've been used, but you've got nothin' to lose
Anticipation's putting me through hell (Wala la ooh Wala la)

Momma never said it, but I know she meant it:
"Come home with the prize, or don't come home at all" (Wala la ooh, Wala la)

I don't care for Corinthian
For Sisyphus has failed again

(He might just find it's time to rise and shine, wala la, ooh, wala la)

I don't know 'bout Islamabad
This Spartan life is all I've had
Karachi's kind of Dodgy- so I've heard

My heart is stone-like, heavier than gold
Mere alchemy won't salvage me tonight

The cold here is killin' me
So let's sail to Sicily
It happens Athens never was my school

I'll keep an open mind/ You'll leave your burden behind
For work's the guilty pleasure of a fool

WalaWalaWala  Thank you. I was just mentioning to J. Wager that he inspired me to make a slideshow including the historical figures that inspired this tune. This cover is called "The School of Athens" by Raphael (named after the mean Ninja Turtle). These are all famous philosophers, in the middles is So-Crates. Others include Pythagoras, Aristotle, and Archimedes. The models were in some cases artists, like Raphael himself, and Da Vinci who portrays Plato (the guy w/o hair in the middle with his hand up)  (Nov 12, 2012, 17:17 EST)

Thanks for the share. Very good lyrical flow; I'm always a sucker for anything historical sounding. I'll have to look up some of these references. Overall, the song sounds like Sublime had relations with The beatles in their rubber soul days, and this is their brainchild

WalaWalaWala  J. You're trying to get on my good, side, I think :) And it's working! I like the phrase "Had relations" -- very classy, I had to think about that one, for a second!  (Nov 11, 2012, 21:22 EST)

WalaWalaWala  On a note related to relations, I just met B.J. Clinton the other day in Downtown Pittsburgh. It was awesome, and I now have what they call "Mano de Clinton" -- there is no cure!!! Gracias... Wish I had a pic, but it is a real story...  (Nov 11, 2012, 21:39 EST)

J. Wager  Way cool! And I think it's hilarious you refer to him as "B.J." haha  (Nov 12, 2012, 15:50 EST)

WalaWalaWala  Hahaha! He was very nice to stop for like 30 minutes once everyone realized who was there and surrounded him. You've actually inspired me to make a slideshow for this piece, and to include all of the historical references I had in mind when I wrote it.  (Nov 12, 2012, 17:10 EST)

WalaWalaWala  You did. I'll let you know when we get it done. How is your songwriting going?  (Nov 12, 2012, 17:53 EST)

J. Wager  Slowly, but surely. Currently banging a out a native american sounding tune called Psychedelic Moose. Hoping to have it polished and uploaded by next week  (Nov 12, 2012, 20:28 EST)

WalaWalaWala  That sounds incredible! I'm looking forward to checking it out.  (Nov 12, 2012, 22:02 EST)

First impression: vocalist has a good voice, and the guitars remind me of really relaxed ska. It's a well written ballad, but it seems to sustain the same level of intensity the duration of the song and then just end. If this is your intention, it's good. But, there could probably be some changes in the energy level to catch the listener and hold them captive with your sound.
