Ian Marquis

Location: Bangor, Maine
About me:
I'm a solo musician living in Bangor, Maine. I've been playing guitar for about 8 years now, and seriously writing songs for nearly as long. Three or so years ago, I decided to start singing. I've put out two albums since then, and am working on a third. If I can't do it myself (either by hand or through software), I don't do it. That means I play (or sequence) all my instruments, program my own drums, sing, and do all my own production/mixing. I'm never satisfied with the quality of my music - there's always room for improvement. Having said that, I hope you enjoy what I've done.

All of my songs are available for streaming and download at www.ianmarquismusic.com.

I hadn't heard your stuff in a while, Ian. Great track! What's your next move? I might need your help, remixing my next album -- a solo project. I will let you check out some of the tracks once I have some of the stems in place.

Great stuff, as always, Ian. Lyrics, = great, too.

Thank you,
-Shoham

Ian Marquis  Hey, thank you! I'm currently trying to wrap up work on my next album. I'm hoping it'll be done by this summer. If you're curious, I keep an up-to-date set of songs at http://ianmarquismusic.com/album/faces-from-the-static-2013-wip. I'll be putting the new set on FF once it's done, of course :)

Also, I'd love to hear what you're up to!

Kode of Bliss gave feedback to Ian Marquis for “Indecent”:
Nice bell sound going on. The drums are well done nice and clean. I felt the vocals were a bit too forward in the mix, maybe it is just me. Still some good panning and intermixing of the instruments.

Vox sound great on this one. I don't think that I had heard this one before. The waveform looks pretty rad on this one, too. How did you do that?!?

I love the lyrics as always, man I never thought that I'd be nostalgic for the 1980's! Very professional production value -- your'e going places, kid!!!

How is everything with you, my friend?

Thank,

Ian Marquis  Hey, thank you!

I did a LOT of stereo tricks with this mix: jumping pans, phasing and flanging, layers, and whatever else I could think of. This track sat around on my computer for a while, unfinished, before I finally wrapped it up back when I was finishing The Man Forgotten. It was the first song I started, but one of the last I completed.

Lately, I've been taking a little break from songwriting and production to get a fresh perspective and decompress. I'm hoping to really do a big marketing push this winter.

Take it easy!

s.a. zober  "I've been taking a little break from songwriting and production to
get a fresh perspective and decompress." Sounds like a plan! We should collaborate, here are some tunes from a band of mine: http://www.feed-forward.net/walawalawala  (Oct 26, 2012, 14:51 EDT)

Nice change of pace from what you've been producing lately!

Sort of your "Civil War", or "Every Rose Has It's Thorn"! -- very tender tune.

GREAT HARMONIES, BRO!!!

Thank you as always,

Ian Marquis  Thank you, man!

This track is actually older than all the recent ones I have posted - I recorded it last December, as I was starting to think about my new album and dealing with some heavy personal stuff. I'm really glad you like it.  (Sep 11, 2012, 23:29 EDT)
