s.a. zober gave feedback to Ian Marquis for “Thick as Thieves”:
I hadn't heard your stuff in a while, Ian. Great track! What's your next move? I might need your help, remixing my next album -- a solo project. I will let you check out some of the tracks once I have some of the stems in place.

Great stuff, as always, Ian. Lyrics, = great, too.

Thank you,

Ian Marquis  Hey, thank you! I'm currently trying to wrap up work on my next album. I'm hoping it'll be done by this summer. If you're curious, I keep an up-to-date set of songs at http://ianmarquismusic.com/album/faces-from-the-static-2013-wip. I'll be putting the new set on FF once it's done, of course :)

Also, I'd love to hear what you're up to!

This song is so cool! All the different crazy sounds flow into eachother so smoothly. So vintage it's futuristic . . .

s.a. zober  Haha! Well who's fast? I was just buying your one track, and then noticed YOU already had another one up!  (Sep 10, 2012, 16:20 PDT)

Ian Marquis  You know, that's a good point. :) I realized I'd been slacking and needed to put up some more of the songs I'd been working on - I was asleep at the wheel!  (Sep 10, 2012, 16:22 PDT)

I totally agree with JZC, another awesome 80's-type track! I also liked the little bit of what I think was an Indian flair at the start.

I can definitely hear the Robert Smith influence on this one -- and that's definitely a good thing :D

I would love to hear some vocal harmonies one this track, too!

Thank you.

Ian Marquis  Thank YOU.

I've really been hitting a stride recently, upgrading my sound, and I realized I hadn't put any of my recent work on Feed Forward. I decided to fix that, because I think these new songs are some of my strongest work to date. I'm completely stoked that you agree!  (Sep 10, 2012, 14:53 PDT)

s.a. zober  They are strong! Then again, I liked the older ones too! We're glad to hear you back in the swing of things. Have you brought your stuff into WUPI, yet?  (Sep 10, 2012, 14:55 PDT)

Ian Marquis  I am gearing up for a big promo period, but have been so busy I haven't had a chance to reach out to many stations yet. I want to send out a ton of letters and copies of The Man Forgotten, and then turn around in a bit and hit everyone with the new album when it's done. Also, I am planning some experimental videos.  (Sep 10, 2012, 14:57 PDT)

s.a. zober  It sounds like a well coordinated strategy. Definitely keep me abreast. Make it two, actually...  (Sep 10, 2012, 15:03 PDT)

great song! brings back memories of the 80s!

s.a. zober gave feedback to Ian Marquis for “Underground”:
Good production! I like the bass-line and drumbeat especially. As always, a really well thought through composition, and a really well executed recording. Post production is coming through as well in these headphones.

Stereo, what a concept :D

Who is this young Siren singing with you, or did you just add a track with a lot of effects on it??? Great chords too!

Either way, it's really good :D

Ian Marquis  Hey, thank you! I really, really appreciate your support - seriously. This is probably the song I'm the most proud of so far from the new setlist for my in-progress album. There's just so much going on. Oh, and the backup vocals in the chorus are all me. To get the higher ones, I shifted the formant of my voice, as well as the pitch, up for a higher harmony. It's something I'm playing with a lot more recently. Glad you liked the result!  (Sep 09, 2012, 18:58 PDT)

s.a. zober  Awesome! And I DO like the results. Keep on making great music :D Also, did you ever get to any of your college stations in ME -- I'm absolutely sure they'll put you in the rotation.  (Sep 09, 2012, 21:03 PDT)

s.a. zober gave feedback to Ian Marquis for “Poster Child”:
Strong showing as usual, Ian. How is your ground game going? Hopefully you're getting your due on the local airways!

Any time I listen to the top 40 radio and then hear your stuff, it reminds me that when you get your shot, your stuff is going to blow up on there!

By the way are you getting to play out live much, if at all?

Ian Marquis  Thanks, man. I've been working lately on getting some local stations to play my stuff on their indie blocks. WTOS is going to drop one of the songs next week, and a tiny station in Rockland played a song last week. It's slow going, but every bit counts. No live shows yet, but I am considering forming a band if I ever find the time.  (Jul 19, 2012, 04:55 PDT)

s.a. zober  Cool. Keep pushing with the local stations. IT's a headache, I know, but keep pushing. I promise you your suff is ready to break, but you've got to make sure to get it out there to these local stations. If possible, visit in person. The college stations, too. You've put in the work on composition and recording, the last push is often the hardest, but keep pushing!!!  (Jul 19, 2012, 05:17 PDT)

Gremlin gave feedback to Ian Marquis for “Thick as Thieves”:
This is really fucking cool. I like the guitar tones you got going on in this track and how the verses just go full on 80s. Very nice.

Digging this. :)

I like the contrast between verse and chorus- both instrumentally and vocally. I'm not sure if you've changed the mix since Shoham's comments below but I like the effect/style of the vocals during the verse.

The chorus is hard-hitting.. the way the vocals and guitar groove.. and I like it, but I think I may actually like the style of the verses a little more. :)

Nice piano/string break around 2:15.

Great tune mate.

What's your guitar setup for this?
