Karma FAQ
-
If I don't have any karma, does my work still get shown on the homepage?
As long as you have an account, you have karma, and your work will be featured on our homepage and promoted throughout the site.
-
How do I earn more karma?
You earn karma by giving feedback for works on our homepage.
You can tell that you're on the homepage when the word 'Home' is underlined on the navigation bar at the top of the page. Additionally, the "Our Philosophy" section is shown only on the homepage.
-
How much karma do I earn for each piece of feedback that I give?
That depends on a couple of factors:
- An algorithmic rating of the feedback.
- The rating you receive from the author of the work that you've given feedback for. You'll receive more karma for a "Good" piece of feedback than for an "Okay" one, and more for an "Excellent" piece of feedback than for a "Good" one.
-
Does my karma ever go down?
Yes, when someone gives you feedback on the homepage, up to 8 points of your karma is transferred to that person. (Note: Your karma will never go below 1 point, even if the person giving you feedback gains more karma than you have to give.) You never lose karma when you rate a piece of feedback that you receive.
-
What's the most amount of karma that I can earn for one piece of feedback?
10 points.
-
What's the least amount of karma that I can earn for one piece of feedback?
1 point.
