Lyrics:
You're girlfriend, she's in the way
You're best friendship's in decay
And you no longer long to say
One more underused cliche

One more cigarette
One more chance to forget
One more last regret
Then you're gone
One more 'til the break of dawn

You're girlfriend She doesn't care
You're best friend he isn't there and you
And you want something that just ain't there
One more great abyss to stare

On more little cig'
One more little gig
One more chance to figure out-
Just why you need all that clout...

You're girlfriend, she's all alone
You're best friend, he's an unkown
And you don't even own your own moan

And I'm gone, gone gone
Gone, gone gone
Gooooone...
Yeah I'm gone!

He's gone!

Gremlin gave feedback to The Middlemen for “Starstruck”:
Very catchy. I like the mixing on this track. Can't put my finger on why though. Just refreshing to my ears I guess.

I like the megaphone type vocals too. My only complaint is I wish the drums were a little fatter in the mix. : )

Great work guys!

The Middlemen  Thank you. It was written and recorded during the height of "The Strokes" first album, so that might be the part of the production that is catchy? This one actually got some radio time!  (Nov 26, 2012, 19:20 EST)

Gremlin  I get more of a Tom Petty vibe from it, like Damn the Torpedos era. Either way, neither are too shabby to be compared to.  (Nov 27, 2012, 15:30 EST)

Great composition. I like what you did with the vocals. I think that the balance is all around very good, although at times the guitar is a little bit louder than it needs to be, IMHO.

Great lyrics, and the band sounds tight as a tick -- no offense Mrs. Backner ;)

Thanks,

placement93 gave feedback to The Middlemen for “Starstruck”:
I'd give this genre a name like "neo-classic rock." Pretty reminiscent of The Strokes. The fuzz vocals and bass lines are particularly effective, but I'm having a hard time figuring out where they were going with the lyrics.

The Middlemen  Thank you, placement93. The tune was definitely inspired by The Strokes, so you picked that up, quite well. I like your genre, too. the lyrics were in large part reality based. There was a lot of tension in the band at that time, in part because of a love triangle between a few of the members and a girl from outside the band. Thanks for listening!  (Apr 25, 2012, 08:32 EDT)
